When it comes to luxury bathroom design, few names come to mind as easily as LAUFEN. The Swiss company known for precision and innovation in ceramics has defined “bathroom culture” with its 120 years of expertise. That’s why when we we heard LAUFEN was joining forces with Kartell, we were thrilled to get one of the first looks at their new collection. Kartell is an iconic Italian brand known for revolutionizing furnishing in the use of plastics. Together they’ve synthesized their specialties into the remarkable new line “Kartell by Laufen.”
Designed by the award-winning Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, who previously designed LAUFEN’s signature Palomba collection, “Kartell by Laufen” sees the combination of two materials that could hardly be more different— plastics and ceramics. Perhaps the most innovative feature is LAUFEN’s SaphirKeramik, a revolutionary new ceramic material. Weighing half of normal ceramics, this adaptive material allows for extremely light washbasins as thin as blades but with the exceptional hardness and strength of steel.
In addition to ceramic washbasins, the collection features bathroom furniture and accessories in a palette of bold earth tones. Sophisticated yet accessible, chic yet understated, the “Kartell by Laufen” collection marks a new beginning in bathroom design.
