Many people spend a considerable amount of time debating what to stock their home bar with: Grey Goose or Kettle One? Patron Silver or Anejo? Olde English 800 or Colt 45? Okay, maybe they don’t spend too much time on that last one.
But what they often neglect is the bar itself – in many cases fixtures like the bar sink and faucet are of poor quality or simply outdated. On the contrary, a bar with good design and top of-the-line fixtures offers good functionality and improves the value of the home. One could liken such a well-designed home bar to a cocktail that has been shaken instead of stirred. Well, sort of. You get where we’re going with this – it’s just better!
After considerable research, and we don’t just mean hanging out in our friend’s home bar and sipping James Bond Martinis (though there was plenty of that in effect; see recipe below), we have narrowed down some of the best bar sinks and faucets on the market:
Stone Forest’s Drop-In Bar sink is a natural wonder, carved out of black granite with a smooth interior and a rough, rugged exterior. The slightly raised design of this piece includes an attractive chiseled edge, and it even comes with a hardwood cutting board for slicing lemons, limes and other cocktail-compatible fruit.
SSi’s (Sustainable Solutions International) Undermount Single Bowl Kitchen Sink is the perfect size and dimension for the home bar. Formed of #18 gauge nickel-bearing stainless steel, all of its exposed surfaces are polished to a satin finish. With full undercoating and large rubber pads for noise reduction, the only thing your cocktail companions will hear is the sound of your bar blender churning out daiquiris.
Watermark’s Single-Hole Bar Faucet with Swan Head adds an elegant touch to the bar environment. A dual-lever model available in a plethora of finishes including polished nickel and antique brass, it’ll inspire you to regale your friends with amusing observations about Natalie Portman’s performance in Black Swan.
JACLO’s 7” Swivel Bar Faucet Spout has an appeal that harkens back to a stylish, bygone era – perfect for the old-fashioned home bar. With a single spout design and a choice of attractive metal or ceramic wheels or levers, the days of Prohibition won’t seem like they were so long ago. Thankfully though, they are.
With quality fixtures in your home bar, you’ll be able to spend less time worrying about if your sink’s functionality will fail you and more time focusing on shaking up those aforementioned James Bond Martinis.
