You might not know that Disney has their own upscale, non-character, adult lifestyle brand that includes indoor and outdoor home furnishings, jewelry, clothing, stationery, and candles. The brand is called “Walt Disney Signature” and they recently collaborated with the world renowned design firm Cappellini to create a dining room for the Dining By Design DIFFA event to benefit the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS organization. DIFFA’s Dining by Design is renowned for bringing together some of the most talented and celebrated individuals in the worlds of fashion, interior design, art, and architecture to create spectacular, over-the-top dining environments. Here a 3-dimensional sculpture of Mickey Mouse presides over the Walt Disney Signature and Cappellini dining installation; the Mickey sculpture is made of polyurethane, measures 10 feet tall from head to toe and weighs 86 lbs. Their tabletop and display combines the magic of Disney and uses Disney inspiration with avant-garde Cappellini design. The Disney dining installation features Cappellini’s iconic chair designs with a touch of Disney. Cappellini’s popular Ribbon Stool (designed by Nendo) with a Walt Disney Signature twist, will be available in a limited edition release at the Milan Furniture Fair in April.
