As the nation’s largest design event, Dwell on Design showcases the latest in modern design and innovation. Every year we look forward to taking in the sights of the Los Angeles Convention Center, checking out the best and brightest products from leaders in modern design. We always have our eye out for the next big trend, and this year we’re excited to see it’s the shift toward sustainable design. Here are some of our favorite sustainable companies we saw at Dwell on Design who are crafting beautiful products but working to lessen their environmental impact.
For those seeking a more DIY or sustainable approach to wood paneling, look no further than Stikwood. Stikwood is a peel and stick wood décor made from real, reclaimed wood. Available in a variety of colors and styles and taken from real wood barns, fences and buildings, Stikwood can add warmth and texture to a contemporary environment, accent a look that’s industrial chic, or stand out anywhere in between. Since there’s no need to pay for a contractor, Stikwood is a cost effective way to cover your walls, floors or anywhere else your heart desires. (And with adhesive rated for 10 years, Stikwood isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.)
The always elegant and beautifully designed Native Trails is the perfect blend of style and sustainability. Combining age-old traditions with contemporary design and sustainable materials, Native Trails makes handmade one-of-a-kind pieces from recycled copper, bamboo, reclaimed wood and wine staves. Their Bordeaux Wall Mount recently won a GREEN GOOD DESIGN Award in the Innovative Green Products category, which honors companies promoting greater sustainability practices by saving energy and using recycled materials. Made from reclaimed oak wine barrels, the Bordeaux Wall Mount gives high quality wood a second life and diverts it from landfills – making it a winner in more ways than one.
